What is the Milady Maker NFT collection?

The Milady Maker is a collection of 10,000 generative pfpNFTs in a neochibi aesthetic inspired by street-style tribes. This means that the NFT collection was meant to be profile pictures inspired by a specific anime art style.

Launched in March 2021, the collection had a mint price of 0.05 ETH. Used frequently among Twitter memes, the floor price of the collection was already at 0.2 ETH by the end of 2021. In May 2023, Elon Musk shared a Milady meme on Twitter, causing the project price to skyrocket further, with some speculating that Elon owned his own Milady NFT.

To this day, Milady is still used frequently in Twitter memes as reaction pictures. During Binance’s 2023 Annual Awards, they announced Milady as the ‘NFT Project of the Year’.

Who Is the Team Behind Milady?

The Milady collection was created by Remilia Collective, the same team behind the companion NFT collection ‘Redacted Remilio Babies’. While the team behind the Milady collection is anonymous, the CEO of Miladys self-doxxed herself, revealing herself as Miya, a controversial 4chan internet personality.

However, due to the backlash faced by the community following her self-doxx, Miya, also known as Charlotte Fang, has since stepped down as CEO of the company.

What is the Utility of the Milady Collection?

The Milady Maker NFT collection has a number of utilities. While the NFT collection is meant to be used as profile pictures, Milady also labels itself as an aesthetic, a lifestyle, and a community.

Milady NFT holders are given exclusive access to certain events and benefits. This includes the Milady VRtube, Raves, Bootlegs, and a Minecraft Metaverse.

The Milady VRtube is a service that allows Milady holders to use their NFTs as an avatar for calls and live-streaming platforms via the Hologram application. This is slightly similar to Apple’s Memoji work, as users can pose as their own Memoji avatar in calls.

Milady holders are also given exclusive access to physical raves. These raves are party meetups that take place with local underground scenes such as NYC and Tokyo.

Milady Bootlegs is a merchandise store that sells designer knockoffs with Milady logos. These allow the community and its holders to show their love and support for the collection.

Milady holders are also given exclusive access to the Milady Minecraft server. In the server, there are several special features, such as land plots and events, that are only made available for NFT holders. This allows and encourages the interaction between the community and NFT holders.

Other than that, the Milady collection has also been known to help raise money for charity. In December 2021, the team supposedly donated 1 ETH to Save the Children.

What is the Drip Score System Within the Milady Collection?

Each individual Milady NFT has a drip score rating the overall aesthetic value and stylishness of the NFT.  To calculate the NFT’s drip score, each cosmetic is scored on its rarity, then weighted against the prominence of its slot, with a multiplier applied for theme or costume complete badges. The Miladys are each given a letter grade for their drip score. The ratings range from D, C, B, A, S, and SS.

The Milady Ecosystem

Other than the Milady NFT collection, the Remilia Collective team also sometimes produces official expansions to give away to Milady Holders. One such expansion is a Generative NFT Banner that was a free mint for Milady Holders. The Generative NFT banner mint was made in collaboration with community-submitted captions on places such as Wikipedia user pages and forum signatures.

Another free mint that was given to Milady holders is the NFT collection named ‘Milady, That B.I.T.C.H.’. The collection featured the Miladys in a bootleg ‘Being Internet Time Cute History’ shirt, an abbreviation for Bi***.

The Remilia Collection team also released a companion collection to Milady Maker, Redacted Remilio Babies, which is meant to be the canonical zoomer little brother to Milady. The collection is made of 10,000 neochibi pfpNFT's made to expand the Milady Maker paradigm with the introduction of young J.I.T. energy and schizophrenic reactionary aesthetics.

The Milady ecosystem also encourages an ecosystem of projects from its fan community as long as criteria such as credits are met. This has resulted in community projects from their fanbase, coming up with their own NFT collection or tokens. Some of these fan-made projects include the Pixelady Marker NFT collection and the Milady Meme Coin (LADYS). While these projects are not launched by the Remilia Collective team, they play a part in the whole ecosystem.

These fan-made projects have also been known to have some price correlation to the actual NFT collection itself. For example, the price of LADYS skyrocketed after Elon’s tweet on Miladys.
